Komisja Europejska wybrała 74 projekty, które w ramach programu rozwoju transeuropejskiej sieci transportowej (TEN-T) otrzymają prawie 200 mln euro dofinansowania ze środków UE na kontynuację poprawy infrastruktury transportowej w granicach UE. W toku realizacji tych 74 projektów, wybranych w wyniku dorocznego zaproszenia do składania wniosków z 2011 r., wsparcie finansowe UE zostanie wykorzystane do różnych celów, od budowy lub modernizacji istniejących połączeń przez wsparcie korytarzy transportowych i umocnienie partnerstwa publiczno-prywatnego po innowacyjne instrumenty finansowe. Odpowiedzialny za transport wiceprzewodniczący Komisji Europejskiej Siim Kallas powiedział: „Komisja Europejska nadal wspiera budowę i modernizację europejskiej infrastruktury transportowej, aby zapewnić obywatelom możliwość czerpania korzyści z faktu istnienia kompletnej, bezpiecznej i nowoczesnej sieci drogowej. Ponadto udostępniona dzisiaj kwota prawie 200 mln euro będzie również pomocna we wspieraniu zatrudnienia w UE, ponieważ umożliwia państwom członkowskim inwestowanie w duże i małe projekty infrastrukturalne w okresie ogólnej stagnacji gospodarczej”. Łączna kwota przyznana w ramach programu z 2011 r. wynosiła 198,63 mln euro, a środki te były przeznaczone na finansowanie najważniejszych priorytetów w ramach sieci TEN-T z naciskiem na następujące dziedziny
– Priorytet 1: Promocja rozwoju zintegrowanych i multimodalnych systemów transportowych –wybrano 10 projektów, wartość dofinansowania wynosi 25,92 mln euro
– Priorytet 2a: Analizy i prace przygotowawcze w zakresie projektów przyczyniających się do łagodzenia skutków zmiany klimatu i dostosowania się do niej (emisja gazów cieplarnianych) –wybrano cztery projekty, wartość dofinansowania wynosi 9,37 mln euro
– Priorytet 2b: Analizy i prace wspomagające ograniczanie oddziaływania transportu morskiego na środowisko (substancje zanieczyszczające powietrze) –wybrano cztery projekty, wartość dofinansowania wynosi 3,76 mln euro;
– Priorytet 3: Przyśpieszenie/ułatwienie wdrażania projektów TEN-T –wybrano 44 projekty, wartość dofinansowania wynosi 146,63 mln euro;
– Priorytet 4: Wsparcie dla partnerstwa publiczno-prywatnego i innowacyjne instrumenty finansowe –wybrano trzy projekty, wartość dofinansowania wynosi 5,63 mln euro;
– Priorytet 5: Wsparcie długofalowego wdrażania sieci TEN-T, w szczególności rozwój korytarzy umożliwiających skoordynowaną realizację sieci –wybrano sześć projektów, wartość dofinansowania wynosi 7,32 mln euro.
Zarządzaniem projektami zajmie się Agencja Wykonawcza ds. Transeuropejskiej Sieci Transportowej, działająca pod auspicjami Dyrekcji Generalnej ds. Mobilności i Transportu Komisji Europejskiej i współpracująca z beneficjentami projektów.
