Rozr\u00f3\u017cni\u0107 kierunek jazdy mo\u017cna by\u0142o zar\u00f3wno patrz\u0105c na schemat linii (16L kursowa\u0142a \u201ew lewo\u201d, a 16P \u201ew prawo\u201d), jak i na kierunek wyjazdu z p\u0119tli Oliwa: 16L w lewo do Wrzeszcza, a 16P w prawo na Przymorze. Taki uk\u0142ad funkcjonowa\u0142 zaledwie dwa miesi\u0105ce. Ju\u017c od sierpnia 1978 roku wprowadzono istotne zmiany. Utworzono ujednolicon\u0105 lini\u0119 16, kt\u00f3ra pod jednym numerem kursowa\u0142a w obie strony. Drugi kraniec wyznaczono na p\u0119tli Ogrodowa (obecnie Strzy\u017ca PKM).
