Pierwsze jazdy pr\u00f3bne odby\u0142y si\u0119 w pa\u017adzierniku 2012 na stacji Bydgoszcz Wsch\u00f3d Towarowa i nast\u0119pnie na liniach do Inowroc\u0142awia, Poznania i Zdu\u0144skiej Woli Karsznic. Testy lokomotywy obejmowa\u0142y mi\u0119dzy innymi zachowanie lokomotywy przy je\u017adzie luzem i przy r\u00f3\u017cnych obci\u0105\u017ceniach i trwa\u0142y do 25 listopada 2012. Od listopada 2012 do grudnia 2012 Gama by\u0142a testowana na torze w \u017bmigrodzie, gdzie podczas pr\u00f3b osi\u0105gn\u0119\u0142a pr\u0119dko\u015b\u0107 173 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Po pomy\u015blnym odbyciu wszystkich wymaganych prawem pr\u00f3b dopuszczona zosta\u0142a czasowo do prowadzenia poci\u0105g\u00f3w pasa\u017cerskich z pr\u0119dko\u015bci\u0105 do 160 km\/h i towarowych do 140 km\/h. Lokomotywa jest 4-osiow\u0105 jednostk\u0105 elektryczn\u0105 o mocy 5600 kW, zasilan\u0105 napi\u0119ciem 3 kV DC. Dodatkowo zamontowano pomocniczy silnik spalinowy mocy 405 kW (Caterpillar) sprz\u0119gni\u0119ty z pr\u0105dnic\u0105 pr\u0105du sta\u0142ego o mocy 420 kW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Przy je\u017adzie na silniku spalinowym maksymalna pr\u0119dko\u015b\u0107 eksploatacyjna wynosi 40 km\/h (w czasie test\u00f3w bez wagon\u00f3w uda\u0142o si\u0119 uzyska\u0107 76 km\/h). Pojemno\u015b\u0107 zbiornika paliwa to 1000 litr\u00f3w.
