Sk\u0142ad ten jest równocze\u015bnie 60-tym w regionie Rhône-Alpes. Dostawy te s\u0105 efektem zamówienia na 233 sk\u0142ady o warto\u015bci 1,8 miliarda €podpisanego we wrze\u015bniu 2000 roku. W jego ramach poci\u0105gi s\u0105 kupowane przez koleje francuskie SNCF w imieniu poszczególnych regionów. W projekcie uczestnicz\u0105 regiony: Centre, Haute-Normandie, Lorraine, Nord-Pas de Calais, Pays de la Loire, Picardie, Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, Rhône-Alpes, jak równie\u017c koleje luksemburskie CFL. Oprócz 233 sk\u0142adów Coradia Duplex zamówionych wspólnie przez SNCF oraz CFL podobne zespo\u0142y zamówi\u0142y koleje szwedzkie SJ. 43 zespo\u0142y oznaczone jako X40 ró\u017cni\u0105 si\u0119 od francuskich poprzez wi\u0119ksze gabaryty dopuszczalne przez skrajni\u0119 szwedzk\u0105, jak równie\u017c poprzez fakt ich wykonania w wersji dalekobie\u017cnej. Sk\u0142ady Coradia Duplex zosta\u0142y zaprojektowane i wykonane w zak\u0142adzie koncernu zlokalizowanym w Valenciennes, natomiast poszczególne komponenty pochodz\u0105 z francuskich zak\u0142adów w Tarbes, Villeurbanne, Le Creusot, Ornans, belgijskiego Charleroi oraz cz\u0119\u015bciowo z Polski, czyli z Konstalu. Alstom wspó\u0142pracuje równie\u017c z koncernem Bombardier w produkcji niektórych wagonów tych sk\u0142adów.
